Frannie Smith is pictured in the style of the other paintings, but is depicted as an older child. I was given a portrait sketch to work from which was created by another artist. I tried to retain the integrity of the other artist’s design, while incorporating the overall style of the book. Frannie was a very beautiful young lady and it was a pleasure to paint her, even from the pencil sketch.  – Wayne Taylor
