An angel with a football, baseball, or basketball, at first seems unusual until you consider that this memorial is about children. George Diebold’s parents obviously chose the football symbol because of it’s importance in their son’s life. When I painted this image I wanted to capture a scene that probably occurs every day in the life of young boys here and in Heaven. People tend to over spiritualize what Heaven must be like. I like to believe it is a place where we are free to do the things we love. Where children can be children.  – Wayne Taylor
